Happy Flag Day {Quilted Pillows Covers}

 "The flag is not just one of many political points of view. Rather, the flag is a symbol of our national unity" ~Adrian Cronauer

I love to start decorating with my red, white and blue decorations and quilts at Memorial Day, but this year we had graduation, so I decided Flag Day would be my jump point this year.

My goal for awhile is to make pillows for our front porch and felt a simple flag block like the New Old Glory Pillows I made previously would work great.

The pillows are made of entirely scraps and stash.

Some denim from my stash for the backside with a simple invisible zipper.

Quilt Pillow Stats:
Measures:  16x24"
Pattern:  Adapted from several. An easy one by Diary of a Quilter here
Fabric: Various cotton scraps and heavy denim
Quilted: Diagonal crosshatch on domestic Babylock Symphony

I definitely think they pack a punch from a distance.

Red Star {Quilted Pillow Cover}

Sometimes simple large block pillows are just the ticket for the Christmas holidays.

I wanted to make new pillow covers for our new linen colored couch. I found a large star block on line and quickly did some quilt math.

Some simple 1/4” quilting, red dotted backing, and solid red binding…

Made for a quick finish.

But seemed to make a vibrant pop in our family room!

Happy Holidays!!!

Heart {Pillow Cover}

 "Follow your heart and happiness will follow"

I received this beautiful Heart Mini by Jen Osborn from the messy nest when I participated in the last Schnitzel & Boo Mini Swap on Instagram.

She used all sorts of lines from my favorite fabric designer, Denyse Schmidt.  I loved the linen background so much.

I had it on my design wall for a few months, but it was nagging me that she had made a heart pillow version for herself and I couldn't get it out of my head to make it into a pillow cover.

I simply unpicked the binding.   Cut some backing with some Denyse Schmidt fabric I had in my stash.  Added a hidden zipper. And added the binding back on.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the same look of her original binding.  As many people know, machine binding is my kryptonite.

 The one thing I love the most is that I can still see her backing and label inside when I take the pillow form out!
