Jolly Bar Book {Blog Hop}

Have you seen the new book by Fat Quarter Shop?

I was intrigued when Fat Quarter Shop emailed me about the book.

Twenty? Yes. You read that right!  Twenty quilt patterns!!

Many would say that Fall began when Pumpkin Spice Lattes arrived a week ago, but I'm willing to wait until the 22nd to enjoy this quilt longer.  My last hydrangea flower agrees.

Next was choosing from all the amazing patterns!!! After long thought, I picked the Regiment Quilt.

liked it's simplicity and that it used every single Jolly Bar to the fullest. I also had just enough pink and white dot, Kindred Spirits by Bunny Hill Designs, for sashing, which played nicely.

I adore the tiny red cornerstones.

The cutting was simple and the piecing went quickly.

I couldn't wait to try my new pantograph pattern, Lotus Blossom by Urban Elementz.

For the backing I found two flannels leftover from two other projects.

I probably mentioned before that I dread pieced backings.
But I'm relatively happy with the result.

I'm more than happy with the way the quilting looked on the back.

I found some leftover white on red flowers
from the Bonnie & Camille line Hello Darling for the binding.

Even Button begged me to have a picnic with him yesterday afternoon.
Fall can wait just a bit longer....

Joyful Jelly Roll {Tree Skirt }

It's never too late to make a holiday project for the next Christmas season NOW!

Actually, I always find this time of year is the best time to make all the things I ran out of time to do during the busy holiday season.  The guests are gone.  Santa's workshop is closed.  The kids are back to school. The decorations are getting packed away.

Stitch one up and find a wonderful surprise in 11 months!

I realize this tree skirt is FAR from the traditional tree skirt fabric. I LOVE this pattern in the fun collection Jingle by Kate Spain and other holiday fabrics, however for this tree skirt I used Kindred Spirits by Bunny Hill Designs.

We have three Christmas trees in our house.  A large one in the family room decked out in greens, golds, burgundy, and red with a burlap tree skirt.  A kid tree in the basement, decked out in all the adorable kid projects and their favorite characters from Star Wars and the like with a ruffled tree skirt.

And then there is our Angel Tree.

In 2009, our family started the tradition of collecting Angel Ornaments, each Christmas, in honor of Jamie Lynn, our very own angel.   We also have picked up more than one a few times for other family members that have passed on.  In particular, my beloved aunt who succumbed to breast cancer.  We were excited to finally have enough to get a slim 6 foot tree for our "formal" room.  It's interspersed with the ornament colors you see in the photos. The fabric could not be more perfect.

I can honestly say that this tree skirt did not take me very long at all.  I started it New Year's Day.  I never felt rushed.  I enjoyed the process. I was even bold and decided to cut the shape out with a 3" border instead of squaring it up like the original pattern.  I have to admit, I adore the tiny pink dot background fabric.

I quilted it with a floral free motion pattern on my longarm arm.  Made biased binding with the teal/aqua striped fabric from the line.  The backing is the one of the blue background florals.  Instead of ties, I opted for button and loop closures.   I love covered buttons because you can make them either blend in or pop out.  Can you guess which option I went with?

Have I convinced you yet to get a jelly roll and make a tree skirt right away?

If you do make a Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt (#joyfuljellyrolltreeskirt), or any of the quilts featured in the Fat Quarter Shop's Top 10 Videos of 2015, make sure to post it on Instagram before January 31st with the hashtag #FQSTop10 to be entered to win a $100 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop!

Triple Lattice Quilts

"A baby brings a little bit of heaven down to earth"
-Author Unknown

Can you imagine what three bits of heaven must be like?

These quilts are for the the sweetest little angels.  Their due date was this month, but they arrived early last month, like triplets seem to like to do.

Boys' Quilts
(just picture this times two, okay)

The boys came home a few weeks ago from the NICU.
The blue and "gray" fabric make me think how soft and sweet little boys are.
I am so happy with the softness of this quilt!

 Girl Quilt

Baby girl came home from the NICU this past weekend!
Oh how I wish I had permission to share their photos!
My heart melted when I saw them!

The pinks from the same line have always seemed bolder than the blues.
I imagine she is going to keep her brothers on their toes, don't you?

I am really happy that I braved the Arabesque pattern on my longarm machine.

It looks soooo scrumptious on the minky back.

I decided on an off white backing to mimic the white background of some of the blocks.
The binding had to be the beige the lattice print.

I have to tell you.  I finished them and dropped them off yesterday.   Unfortunately, it was raining all day, so my photos are definitely not spot on.  My camera battery kept dying and I didn't realize the angles of the full on photos were goofy.

So I had to share one of my two helpers.......

I ALMOST had a shot of my JJ all crouched down so you couldn't see his head behind there.  He a;sp tried to hide his feet. It was quite the comical position.
Lucky for him, the battery died before I could catch it!

Quilt Stats:
Dimensions: 36" x 48"
Pattern: Baby Lattice Quilt
Fabric:  Top: Windsor Lane by Bunny Hill Designs Backing: Off White Minky
Quilting:  Arabesque pantograph

I sure hope the quilts makes their momma happy!!!!

WIP: Windsor Lane Style

Bunny Hill Designs came to my studio.

And threw up on it!
I am in the midst of piecing three quilts.

Two blue for two boys.

One pink for one girl.

TWO babies plus ONE baby equal?

TRIPLETS!!!!!

These fabrics are utterly scrumptious for their nursery.  The photos that I received were of very nuetral gray/beige and very soft pinks and blues.  The cribs? The softest of shades of pink and blue.  Almost a beige/white with just a touch of color.

I think this Windsor Lane line fits the bill!

They decided to arrive earlier than their due date in July.  Very much like triplets do. I had originally thought I would be starting this week.  Instead, I am trying to get these tops done for quilting as soon as possible.

The boys are off their NG tube feedings and are due home, possibly next week!

You Would Think...

That I would be done with quilting after the hours spent on the t-shirt quilt last week...

FINISHES:

But as soon as the T-shirt quilt went out the door, Bunny and I were determined to finish his Sharpie Marker Roll Saturday afternoon!

And we did!!!!

I am actually so jealous to see all 26 colors that I want to make one for my own pack of 24!!!

He did such a fabulous job matching up the colors from my scraps, that I think I am going to have him help me with mine!

 Oh...I forgot...the T-shirt quilt.

NEW PROJECTS:

Secret project.
I hate when I see this on other blogs because it is such a tease, but I don't want to ruin the surprise for this person!!!!  I finalized my design, worked out my cutting measurements, and ordered the fabrics this past Sunday!

Merry, Merry Snowmen (by Bunny Hill Designs)

Yes...I joined my first Block of the Month. I had to have it.  I can't imagine a better fabric (French General) or style for my family room if you remember my change in Christmas decorations HERE.  It started in February, so I have to catch, up...

I am not exactly sure how all this happened...I am guessing I am a little crazy...

Linking up with the only other people that quite understand the crazy...

Quilters.  We are a strange breed, are we not?
