Jolly Bar Book {Blog Hop}

Have you seen the new book by Fat Quarter Shop?

I was intrigued when Fat Quarter Shop emailed me about the book.

Twenty? Yes. You read that right!  Twenty quilt patterns!!

Many would say that Fall began when Pumpkin Spice Lattes arrived a week ago, but I'm willing to wait until the 22nd to enjoy this quilt longer.  My last hydrangea flower agrees.

Next was choosing from all the amazing patterns!!! After long thought, I picked the Regiment Quilt.

liked it's simplicity and that it used every single Jolly Bar to the fullest. I also had just enough pink and white dot, Kindred Spirits by Bunny Hill Designs, for sashing, which played nicely.

I adore the tiny red cornerstones.

The cutting was simple and the piecing went quickly.

I couldn't wait to try my new pantograph pattern, Lotus Blossom by Urban Elementz.

For the backing I found two flannels leftover from two other projects.

I probably mentioned before that I dread pieced backings.
But I'm relatively happy with the result.

I'm more than happy with the way the quilting looked on the back.

I found some leftover white on red flowers
from the Bonnie & Camille line Hello Darling for the binding.

Even Button begged me to have a picnic with him yesterday afternoon.
Fall can wait just a bit longer....

  1. This is a beautiful quilt. I love the backing and how you offset the sashing. I may need to try that, then I don't need to worry about lining up the backing.

  4. P.S. I love how you pieced the backing! I always piece my backs because I'm a cheapskate and like to use up leftover yardage, but they always get so complicated and end up being like a second top. I love your simple 4-patch design!

    1. I would have skipped the white in the middle, but I needed more width on the horizontal for my longarm, so I decided to break it up vertically too!

  5. Summerfest looks like a fun line. I do adore that hold-out hydrangea, and Button is adorable! Great complimentary binding choice.

  7. Wow! I am an old follower of your blog from years ago. I didn't realize how many years until I saw Button all grown up in this picture! I remember him as a little tike in his Mickey
mouse gear for a birthday. I guess that was two PCS's and two babies ago for myself (I have four too!) and now I am taking a moment to enjoy my sewing hobby again! Beautiful work!
