Perfect 10 Sampler {Quilt}

Perfect................Excellent, Foolproof, Ideal, Impeccable, Pure, Splendid, Superb.
The Perfect 10 Sampler Quilt hits all those notes!  And making any of the quilts with the blocks Fat Quarter Shop used from the Perfect 10 Quilts Book along with the companion Creative Grids Perfect 10 ruler can make your Layer Cake dreams come true!

I had a lot of fun putting these blocks together.  It had been quite a while since I was able to piece and quilt and it gave me the ability to get a good sense of my new studio workspace.
I wish I would have had time to do some glorious baptist fans with these reproduction fabrics.  However, I was still setting up Ole Besty Longarm after my hardwood floors had been installed with a looming deadline, so meandering quilting was the quick pattern I needed.

I wouldn't say I'm a "purple girl", but all of the purple reproduction prints just begged me to pull some purples from my stash to make a pieced backing.

 I loved using this tiny purple flower print for the binding.  I even machine stitched the binding this time.   I was anxious to mail this off to a dear friend and the time it takes to hand-stitching had me uneasy.
I was very excited to donate this quilt at the school she works for.  Every little bit counts!!
 I always use a simple printed label on fabric for commissions and donations.

Toy Drum Block {Vintage Christmas Sew Along}

"Come, they told me
Pa rum pum pum pum..."

When I was a kid, my mom would turn off the television in the morning and start playing music on our record player.  When Christmas time started, she had a record that had traditional songs and drummer boy was the first song that played.  My brother, who was non-verbal at the time, would stop and just sit close to the speaker and listen to it...a very rare moment for him to be sitting still.
I love how a project can bring back a memory like this!!!

I finished my Toy Drum Block for the Vintage Christmas Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop
The Vintage Christmas book by Lori Holt is another It's Sew Emma collaboration and there are a lot of great projects with quite a number of blocks, like the Candy Swirl Block I made a few weeks ago!

I decided to keep going with my reproduction print theme that I have been running with the last few months.

And can we talk about the little toy band leader?  How perfect is THIS fabric!

I can hear the collective sarcastic gasps with the coordinating rolling eyes out in the universe because I made this block into a pillow cover.  Or maybe it's just one of my own boys I'm hearing?

I used this gingham check for the backing with a hidden zipper.

A simple older blue leaf print for binding from my stash.

Quilt Project Finish:
Measures: 15"x 15"
Pattern: Toy Drum Block from Vintage Christmas Book by Bee Lori
Fabric: Reproduction Vintage Fabrics, Kona White, Joann Fabrics
Quilted: Matchstick Quilting with Superior Threads and Gutermann on Babylock Symphony

My youngest suggested it would make a cute pillow for his bedroom at Christmas time.
I think he's right!

What are you already making for the holidays to brighten up your home?

Rainbow Sherbet and Rocky Road blocks {Perfect 10 Sampler Quilt Along}

I can't believe it! It's Week 8 of the Perfect 10 Sampler Quilt Along with the Fat Quarter Shop.  The very last blocks!

Rainbow Sherbet

I really love these blocks.  I love that feeling of bursting stars from a corner.

  I used smaller orange and purple reproduction prints.  I can see this with a fun layer cake in many colors or even in two town Christmas prints to make a stunning finish!

Rocky Road Block

I saved this last floral print in my collection to make this block.

The final location of the block in the sampler seemed to marry some blocks around it.  A full quilt in this block make a cool "ring" when it's finished....Christmas comes to my mind again!

It's always exciting to get finished up so you can make them a quilt top!  Make sure you visit Fat Quarter Shop to find out what you need to bring it all together!!!
