Happy Halloween

The boys took my Haunted Mansion from inside to the OUTSIDE.

As I was working on Halloween pillows this weekend (which still aren't finished as of now...figures, right?)

The outside was getting completely covered with spider webs.

Not a single bush along the sidewalk was spared.

Even the lights got some special treatment!!

We really couldn't hold back the giggles on this one.

No, this was NOT on purpose.
Let us just say there was a little accident involving Mr. Boss*, light bulbs, a ladder, and the globe that made "friends" with the sidewalk.

Apparently, glass and concrete don't mix?  Poor hubby....we often get a good laugh at his expense....

Even the front door received a bit of spider web love.
I had one contribution...the wreath!  I spray painted (surprised?) two brown twig wreaths black.  I went really wispy for a more ethereal "look" with a black tulle bow.

A little hot glue, peat moss stolen from a planter inside, and plastic spiders and we were happy.  There are a lot of amazing wreath ideas in blog land, but I was going for simple, easy, and CHEAP!

The little spiders were placed EVERYWHERE!  Amazing how one bag of spiders for $1.99 could keep the boys busy for a long while.

They strategically placed two of these hairy spiders (about the size of a softball) on the columns as you approach the door.

But my favorite?

The pumpkins!

And this really made me smile......

I am going offline to finish those Halloween pillow covers I have in the works...not to mention some costume embellishments for Button....

The finish and tutorials for the pillows will just have to be shared next year!!

*NOTE:   We have decided to start calling "dear hubby"  Mr. Boss or Boss for the blog.  The boys and I spent some time coming up with one.  Some were just too inappropriate...what is the first "B" word that comes to YOUR mind when you think like a bunch of pre-teen and adolescent boys?

We finally agreed on Boss.  Some tongue in cheek with this one.  Because we all know who is the REAL boss around here, right?

Walking, not working

Today the boys and I donned on our walking shoes for a cause.

Fresh air.

Sore feet.

Nothing in comparison to what those with juvenile diabetes go through every day...

We did it LAST YEAR, too.

I couldn't think of anything for her this year, but maybe, just maybe I can talk her mom into me making her a t-shirt quilt with all her walk shirts someday.  But there need to many more walks to come for that!

Hoping to make some progress on my other projects
But, the weekends are hard.

But that's okay.

Camera phone picture...my battery died after the group photos.

Family is what it is all about, right?

Blogger's Quilt Festival

Luckily, I already have a quilt, right?

I am probably BORING my regular followers this week, but I don't have any other quilt to submit to the festival this Fall, other than my  Spiders and Webs Quilt.

Last time I mention it on the blog....I PROMISE!!!

I finished it over the weekend!

This is a HUGE feat since, like I have said before, I am a not a Halloween expert.   After doing my Haunted Mansion Mantle and this quilt, I can honestly say that we are picking up the spirit around the house.  The boys (and I mean dear hubby, too), and I had a grand time scheming and shopping for outdoor decorations this year!

I'm also excited because the tutorial for this quilt is at the Moda Bake Shop!
I'd love for you to go there and see!

Yes!!! I am now a Moda Bake Shop chef.

I may or may not have squealed when they approved my application!

For those of my followers who don't know, Moda is a Fabric company that quilters love.  The Bake Shop is known for the different pre-cut fabrics they provide.  My job is to make projects with them.   How awful, right!

Button was pleased too....

It was a quilt that was out of my comfort zone.
Bright Halloween colors.  Busy fabrics.

And variegated thread for the quilting!

I had planned to do a different quilting scheme than the final product.  I actually struggled with whether I was going to FMQ (free motion quilt) or stitch in the ditch or echo quilt.

But when I sat down with those crazy colors.  The movie Coraline came to mind.

The variegated thread was just begging me to mimic that swirl and spiral!  As soon as I started doing a spiral, I realized that I nailed it.  I didn't have to be perfect.  Primitive and uneven were the name of the game.

It is one of my most favorite "cartoon" movie.  Spooky.   Beautiful.  Juxtaposition of gray tones and bright colors.  The movie has tiny handmade items like Coraline's sweater.

I especially love the buttons in the movie.

   I love Buttons!!!

This is him taking off....just started crawling on all fours last week!

We already used the quilt this past weekend.  Family Movie Night at the boys' school.  It is actually the largest quilt that I have made and kept.

So, no, I am not giving this away, no matter how much you ask.....
Even Button agrees.
If looks could kill.........

He says go make your own with My Tutorial!

To those quilters that follow me, I REALLY recommend joining in!  You get to show off your quilt one more time AND you get to see some other amazing quilts. It is like going to a quilt show without ever leaving your own home and it's FREE!!!

If you want to join in...here are the Quilt Festival's participation rules:

Definitely Progress!

For those visiting from Freshly Pieced: WIP Wednesday...

Halloween Quilt is DONE!

Meet Spiders and Webs HERE.
There is some exciting news for me!

ON HOLD.  I had to devote time to Spiders and Web.  It is always in my "to go" sewing bag for the car and doctor's visits, so maybe some progress will happen!

Puffy QUILT #3.

Still on hold.  I am doing my best to find that fabric I need.  I have a modification design where I can use what I have to make it work.

It is nice, but I still love the original.

And so does the momma.....

Covered Button Project
I finished numbers 1-10.  But I am not happy with the ones I have arrows pointing too.

Do you all like the blue?  They seem too light against the busy fabric. And I do NOT like the number 5's shape at all....

Highchair Cushion

I have the fabric.

I really want to get this done by the end of the week.  Please wish me luck!  I don't know if Button will ever get into our refurbished highchair if I don't get it done!

One last Halloween project

A wreath and maybe some throw pillow covers...

BUTTON

Baby's are always works in progress, right?

Before I started the Spiders and Webs, he was just learning to roll over.

Now he is pulling up and looking out my studio window.

Button also has a work in progress.

It has been nine years since I have had a teether.
Button asks if there are any amazing suggestions?

He is pretty content and doing well...but has had a few restless nights with some acetominophen and isn't interested in his teething ring.  The window sill feels much better.....until he starts crying? Out of frustration or pain, I just don't know!
