Finals Equal

Not so final for me!
I have been running around bus driving my oldest to and fro to school.  When did Finals mean half days all week?  I remember taking several in one day when I was in high school.  I wish I had more done in one week than I do!!!
Uh, oh....am I dating myself?  Am I becoming one of those "back in the day...." moms?
Finishes:

Magnetic Baby Food Jar Storage

I finally got all my buttons sorted, organized and off my center cutting island.  The jars, surprisingly, took a ton of room and we know us quilters/crafters need some serious elbow space.  To find out the process I explained HERE.  I don't think you will be disappointed at the difficulty they were to make.  I plan to do some more with notions...in particular...possibly my needles?

Do. Good Stitches Blocks
This month, my group Imagine. do. Good Stitches quilter asked us to make two blocks. The Rolling Stone/Radiant Ring.  We were instructed to just go with it as long as we used yellow, orange, apple/lime green, aqua/teal, and white.

It was actually delightful to just focus on a block and not have to worry about the end result.  I think I am really going to enjoy this charity!

I especially liked that it didn't take a long time.  A nice afternoon project.  Easy to squeeze in from start to finish!
I hope my fabric selections and layouts are good enough!

Retro Flowers QAL

I realized I was vastly running out of time.  So after cutting and piecing the curves, I worked on it Friday afternoon.

Boy.

I have my work cut out for me!  This is slow going process because my die cuts are not the same measurements as the pattern.

All I have to show for the work is 19 petals.  I decided to hold off on piecing the whole flower because I had an idea....
We shall see!

Zoo Animal Quilts for Twins
I have cut all of my fabrics.  I have my appliques ready to go.
And I have pieced the inner row and the outer rows.

Look familiar?  Yes...Just like my entry for the Quilt Blogger's Festival.  Nomination and voting is starting to happen.  I really need to finish looking at all the quilts!

Now to piece the outer row, applique, and quilt.
I have that "making progress" feeling.  Don't you love that feeling?

I am not sure if I can get them done...but I am going to give it the ole college try!

Linking up LATE in the day with

I am just squeaking in...I almost didn't even link up, but I didn't want to go against my goal of not missing a WIP Wednesday this year!

Straight to Business

There is so much to do and so little time...right to the punchline today!

Finishes:
Disney Princess Shirt and Skirt

Another Princess Applique for a special little girl!

And a patchwork princess skirt to match.

I hope her mom doesn't mind that I tweaked the shirt from the sample I had on my Facebook page.

A little "bling" goes a long way!
Her little brother's Mickey Shirt is on the hoop getting it's final touches.  I will try to sneak a picture in later...maybe.....

Not So Raggedy Ann
I really can't get enough of her....

If you'd like to get to know her, she had her debut yesterday.
I am so sad that she is all boxed up ready to be shipped out today.
I now have to add her to my "list" for myself.
One little funny!  Mr. Boss called me from out of town to tease me about her.  He asked where I got the doll from?  I told him that I made her.  He said "yes, I know you made the clothes, but didn't someone send the doll to you?"
Now that he knows that I am capable of making dolls, guess what I will be making as gifts for anyone who has little girls that we know?

Yup.

Retro Flowers QAL

I am UTTERLY excited.  Progress.

Not just cut, but partway pieced?

Which happened quickly and beautifully thanks to my Sizzix Big Shot ProWestminster!

I was able to cut 12 of each shape at one time.

I even had time to sew some curves!

I adore chain pieced pictures so I had to take one.
Not really pretty, but it makes me happy!
EEEEKKKK!!
I just might be back on track soon with everyone else!

Thank goodness!
Now I hope that my new project status stays the same after visiting everyone over at Lee's.

14 days to go....

I have a countdown for my 8th Grade T-shirt quilt I am working on!

I really can't focus on much else these next two weeks!

Finishes:

I hung up the Button Art I made a few weeks ago HERE!

In Progress:

A design wall!!

I want to finish it today so that I can use it for this t-shirt quilt.  It is too large to lay out on my bed or on the floor without Button "helping" again!  I bought the insulation foam boards yesterday and the batting this morning.

I hope to have it all done by Button's nap time!

Or maybe DURING his nap time....
He is pretty uncomfortable today...on his second week of goopy, runny nose, teary eyed allergies!  Luckily, the pediatrician just called and said he can get a little-little-tiny bit of Zyrtec tonight.
In case you are wondering, I am using Elizabeth's tutorial at Oh, Fransson!.  It seems like it will be light and portable.  Flannel has never worked for me, the batting sounded like a good idea....at least I am hoping!

I will be sure to share it with you soon!

Retro Flowers QAL

I have not quilted, but I have been haunting other QALers' blogs to see what they are up to!  I was debating on what I was going to use for my templates, but finally came to the decision to purchase the Drunkard's path dies from Sizzix.

Background
Quarter Circle

I have the Westminster Sizzix and why not use it!??!

It is for a 4 inch versus 5 inch drunkard, and it is a bit more expensive than the templates, but I have a drunkard path quilt mockup for my Hawaiian fat quarter I bought in Maui.

The other good thing?  The smaller size has solidified my decision to make a fabric choice change...so I will be shopping in the near future!

Bunny's sharpie roll project
I never made an Easter outfit for Button like I had hoped last week...but I am glad I didn't because the day didn't really pan out the way I had envisioned it.  Does that intrigue you?  Read HERE to either commiserate or BRAG that you had a great Easter!!

Now off to link up with some of the ladies I like to think of as my quilting friends at

I swear, I add a new blog to my Google Reader every week!  No wonder I had 450+ blog posts to read since my scrapbook retreat!
Hope you have a blessed day and week! I am looking forward a lot of productivity until next week!

My First QAL

QAL is quilt-a-long for my non-quilting followers!

Click image to find out details

I have avoided one of these for a long time and the reason I chose this one is because it was based on fabric that I have.

Remember when I bought more fabric than I needed for Hartley's quilt?   Not to mention the fact that I had not a single plan in sight?

Well...I have decided that since I purchased this fabric from the internet...it deserved an internet pattern.

I adore Christina's pattern, at Sometimes Crafter, called the Retro Flower.  You can purchase it HERE.

Photo from her pattern shop

I have been adoring Rachel's mini-quilt on her blog, Stitched in Color for a while...so what better way than to join a QAL!

I have always been on Flickr but have never mastered it quite yet, and I think this QAL will broaden my computer horizons!  I finally figured out that Flickr is where all of the bees, swaps, and QAL people hang out!

I have already found a few new blogs!  Some new to me and some just plain new!  I also realize that I might have motif problems with the fabrics above, so there might have to be a change eventually.  But now I have my QAL Flickr group to give me some advice!

And for my non-blogging followers and close friends that wonder:

Why in the world does Heidi find joy in other people's blogs that she doesn't actually know.

The answer?

I finally have some friends that I can email, chit-chat, and commiserate, and bounce ideas off of!
I love all of you, my in real life friends and family, but my online friends "get" the crazy crafty/quilting girl!!

P.S.  Please don't compare my blog to the ones I have mentioned today...I know I am not at all close to their level of amazing-ness!!!
