My copy arrived last week. I have been meaning to give it a wee review.
I have to say...my online sewing ladies mentioned it and I went to Amazon and pre-ordered it RIGHT AWAY.
When it arrived on my doorstep, I was so excited. I waited until I had a perfectly quiet time to read it.
So, I am going to be COMPLETELY HONEST.
I am not in love as much as I thought I would be.
I know the GREAT bloggers out there that participate in all the BOY series in bloggerland are raving about it the last few days. But, as always, I am bucking the system.
Don't get me wrong.
There are adorable pants, jackets, and hoodies.
It was the "fillers" that disappointed me.
A bucket hat? A car mat? A crayon roll? A belt?
Maybe it is because I am so involved on an online sewing community and have instant access to free tutorials.
I am happy to make Button a few things from the book though.
I do plan on making the Treasure Pocket Pants, Pauley's Pullover, and Luka Hoodie, and Two-in-one Jacket.
But....to be completely fair, if there is someone who is new to sewing for their boy.
This book is DEFINITELY for you.
So forgive me my little tantrum. I just was hoping for something other than pants, shorts, shirts, and jackets.
I think the REAL problem is that I wish I was sewing for a girl.
My girl............
No words of wisdom or comfort just wanted you to know I hear you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristi...I don't think I realized what was bugging me until I wrote that final line.
ReplyDeleteYou never know when it shows it's face!
Like I said, it is a great book. I think I was searching for something that will never be! :)

ReplyDeleteThe "sewing-for-boys review comment" is too vague for a helpful response. To provide context, ask about the book, website, content, age-appropriateness, style, and recommendation to other sewists with boys. Once provided, a targeted comment can be written that addresses your experience and opinion.
