Festivals!!!!!

A few exciting things have happened and things are busy...like always, it seems, around here!

Last Friday

Button and I made it to the Houston Quilt Festival.

Not the greatest iphone picture. We were pretty worn out, and I was a bit frazzled at this point, so my hair is a mess!  A no-make up shot just for YOU!
But you get the idea?  Button is pretty happy!!!

Unfortunately, little man was fussy and I figured out that he was teething when he graciously spiked a fever when we arrived home, so I didn't take as many pictures as I had planned.

But here are a few!

Supernova by Lee at Freshly Pieced.

Yup...you know her!  WIP Wednesdays ring a bell?!??!
Button was serious here.  I told him he had to be very good while I took pictures of important quilts....so he became very sober.

Hot and Cold by Krista at Spotted Stones

All I know is that this one was quilted by Angela Walters.
Button decided to climb out and escape before I could write down the other name.
(Carly at Citric Sugar just let me know it is  Jacquie Gering of Tallgrass Prairie Studio)

This was Button's favorite.

I did not get a name of these three pieces because I had to put the camera down AGAIN because he was trying to climb out of the stroller to go and touch it. Yikes!  I think he was trying to get us kicked out or something!

Do you think he likes a lot of bold and bright colors?
He kept saying "Oh..WOW!  Kwit, momma!!!"

I have to admit.
It was VERY crowded and there were some uh...er...some pushy ladies out there to put it nicely?

I didn't get a ton of goodies.

A longarm machine pantograph, a circular/curve ruler, needles, and bobbins for Ole Betsy, and some Sissix diecuts. I have a few more diecuts and pantographs that will be coming in the mail too...they ran out of stock due to the good deals!   I also picked up the Mellow Yellow quilt kit, not so much that I couldn't figure out the pattern, but it had all the colors in cool prints I want for the chair in my bedroom.  A brighter palette of my Farmer's Wife palette I plan to do for my bed!

Wanna see what Button scored?

A sock monkey duo (magnets in their feet and hands!) and a little packet of Christmas Coins from the Moda Bake Shop

Yesterday

I received an email from Amy at Creative Sides that My Artist's Palette has made the final five for the Blogger's Quilt Festival this season in the category of Doll/Mini Quilts.

WOW!

As many of you know, I am always hard on myself, so when something like this happens, it just really takes me by surprise.  I was so surprised by the amount of comments I had alone. It took me all week to catch up and try to reply to each and every one.  And then, of course, I HAD to see if they entered something too...because that is what these things are all about...Community.

Since it is Election Day and everyone is in a voting kind of mood?  You have my blessing to go vote for it here

But, truly, and honestly? I am happy that it is even there!!!!!!
Go and check out the other entries.  Amy has worked so hard to organize great prizes for the winners and I appreciate ALL the hard work she has done!!!

Thursday

I am participating in the Know Thy Machine Blog Hop hosted by Shruti at 13 Woodhouse Road.

Click on the image to see the other posts that are already going on!

Giveaways on her blog are in effect ladies. She already has had a few postings.

And stay tuned for mine!

  1. I think the black and grey one is Jacquie Gering of Tallgrass Studio… I have vague memories seeing it attached with her name on the interwebs. Heard it was a great time!

    Congrats on the nom, too!

  2. Love that your little guy wanted to touch the quilts, I suppose when you grow up around them you don't realise you can't cuddle all the quilts!
