Fall is not over yet!

PUFFY QUILT

Baby C puffy quilt is almost done!!

I can't believe I managed it this week with all of our sickness!!

I not only filled all the biscuits....I pieced them together.
Border, backing and binding....here I come!

Hawaiian quilt

I finished hand quilting the appliqué!!!

Now, I can put my efforts onto echo quilting the off white background. Progress!! I thought I'd never get this close to a finish! It is so sad that it is only 21in by 21 in. Quite embarrassing, actually.

Secret project

I will let you drool over the yumminess that arrived on my doorstep from Moda.

Bella solids in warm pastels (Jelly Roll and Layer Cake)

1862 Battle Hymn by Barbara Brackman (2 Charm Packs)

Rouenneiries Dues by French General (jelly roll and yardage)

I can't wait to share the project and the tutorial!
Did I mention they arrived on my birthday? Happy birthday to me!! Happy birthday to me!

Dots and Checks

I hope to get this top on my longarm today or tomorrow.

I finished the top LAST fall and am embarrassed to say that she pops up in WIP Wednesday every once in awhile.  I guess my own personal torture...or reminder?
I WILL have a "fall" quilt for Turkey day.

I will not start decorating for Christmas until Friday at the very least. It is my personal snub to da man.
I refuse to celebrate nor decorate before other holidays get a chance to shine.

I even hung my garland of leaves, wreathes, and other paraphenalia just last weekend.

A sign to show my neighbors that had their Christmas lights up before Halloween that I march to my own tune.

Mr. Boss would just say that I am stubborn and it is just another private Heidi boycott. I am known for my one woman boycotts in these parts......

Christmas Musical Costumes

Nada. Zip. Zilch.

I have to get it all done. They are next on the docket because they are taking up too much room in my closet.
Oh, and they are due to be completed by Monday? Yikes!

And here's to a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving to everyone tomorrow.

WIP Wednesday

I'm stunned that I actually have been making progress on my WIPS!!!  That is a big deal to me.  It almost scares me!

Halloween Quilt

It is a bit of a secret project to be honest, so I can't reveal too much.

I promise, it will be showing itself sooner than later!

Baby boy quilt has been designed and approved

And I now have 64 muslin squares, but only 60 cotton fabric squares.

I decided to change the color of this picture to show my depression.....

I thought I had enough of the brown dotted fabric.

Only FOUR squares short!!!

I tried to find an alternative that I liked, but it just ruins the mood of the quilt.

Anyone know the name/manufacturer?!?!

Fabric Covered Balls

Made these this past week HERE....hope to do a few more.

Fabric project

Just fooling around with an idea.

A little hand embroidery on a circle for covered buttons.
Wondering what I might be doing with that?

Me too..........

Second puffy finished?!!?!?

I apologize for not posting this earlier.
  I had a date today!

The Mother-Son Luncheon with my oldest!

 Puffy Quilt Two

I really thought I'd get it done before the end of the weekend, but, unfortunately, I just finished the binding last night.

I really fell in love with this color combo. The nursery colors were described as sea foam green and brown. I just let the fabric with the green and blue be my jumping off point.
I am pretty pleased with the design, too.

The third is waiting patiently, not sure of momma or little man are though!
I have to finish by the time he arrives!

And I will not do another one for a long time. I need to take a puffy break!

Halloween quilt

Has to be finished tomorrow and Friday. No ifs, ands,  or buts.
It is "haunting" me day and night.
Yup...I said it....*snort*

Hawaaiian quilt.

All the horrible hand stitching is completely removed.
I was able to quilt two breadfruits last night.
I REALLY want to get this done!!!

>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<

I am forcing myself not to even announce the quilts that are waiting in the wings. I fear that if I do, I will become obsessed with them when I have so many non-quilt projects to do.

Linking up with the rest of the ladies!!!

Puffy, Puffies Everywhere!

I was glad when Lee at Freshly Pieced took a pass on last weeks WIP Wednesday, because I was going nowhere fast!   But I made some serious progress this past week and weekend!

WIP Wednesday #45

ONGOING PROJECTS:

I am really excited.  I am trying to work on them in tandem, that way my brain is in the same mode and it will just feel like I am doing one quilt.

I finished filling all my biscuits for the first one.  The chocolate soft and fluffy border is next.

First on my agenda this week is the second one. I have all of the biscuits ready to fill.  They are already in their "row" order, so once their filled, I will jump in and piece them in together.

I just might get these done by the end of October!
  Can I get a WOOT!

No progress whatsoever.  I actually pulled out all of my hand quilting I started.  I was trying too hard to make my stitches tiny and it made it look worse.  I think I have lost momentum.  I need some motivation!

Halloween Strip Quilt

I made a design, and was going to start.
Then I watched the movie The Messengers, and it made me rethink my plan.

Then when I woke up, I realized Plan A was so much better.
Note to self:  Don't watch a horror/suspense movie while quilting.  It makes me indecisive!

I hope everyone else is having a happy quilting/crafting week!!!

Bug's Quilt

I am going to forewarn you.....

I LOVE THIS QUILT!

It is hard to explain, but it is the first time where it was difficult to "let go" of a quilt I am making for someone else.

I really kept "petting" it.

I even opened it up so I could look at it ONE LAST time before mailing it off today.  My PostNet lady was cracking up.  She even made sure it had a tracking number...she knows me well enough to know that I will be obsessed over it!

The quilt is called a Biscuit quilt or also known as a puffy quilt.

I would post a tutorial, but guess what?

There already is an awesome one HERE.
Heidi at HoneyBear Lane used to have this as a free tutorial, but she decided to make it professional and now it can be yours for a reasonable amount.

The biscuit/puffy quilt can actually be found in many quilt books (I found it in three of mine), but Heidi's is truly a very good tutorial.  Especially for anyone in the beginner/intermediate category of sewing/quilting.

Don't you just love the each "puff"?

Don't you just love the soft and cuddly border fabric?

I had a different backing fabric planned, but it pushed the floral theme a bit much...it is for a baby boy, after all!

And when I found the backing material at the quilt shop, I ditched my original white binding plan.  The check had to be used!  Even dear hubby agreed.

I was actually so honored to be asked to make this.
Bug's momma is quite a talent herself, but she said she felt like she might not be able to pull it off.   And if anyone knows me, I love not only a challenge...but also just to be asked!

She wanted it in black/white/greys to go with the rest of Bugs' stuff.  She actually transformed a color picture into black and white so I could get an idea of what she wanted!

My favorite part?

Bug is her Rainbow baby.

Enough said.  Right?

And because I love the quilt so much....can I just show it to you again?

Have I mentioned that I love this quilt?

I am pretty sure there will be more in my near future.   I wonder if it will be hard to let them go too?  Maybe a big one for my own bed?
